Is there anyone out there that is or knows someone that is a court room stenographer? If so i'd like to know a little more information about the job. What's a typical day like for a court stenographer? What's the salary now? Do u like the job? Do u allways hav busy days? What else do u do besides translating documents in a court room? Can u work from home? Anything else u want to throw in. O yah! Do u hav any addvice for an upcomming court stenographer?

Hi, when I was in high school, I had ambitions to be a court reporter. Back then (in the 90's), people used a court-reporting machine which used shorthand. Now, I think it is mostly done by computers. I know sometimes a person will actually speak the words into a microphone. You might want to wikipedia or google court reporter and see what happens. I eventually went to college and got a Sociology degree, but I still keep up on interesting courtroom news. HTH

i actually got to meet a cour reporter it was part of my job shadowing stuff that myr ehab counsellor wanted me to do. She was really nice and she let me look at her stenographer machine but my rehab counsellor said that there aren't a lot of job outs there for court reporters. The do have a bblind court reporters association i found it by googling blind court reporters. Most of the reporters now use tape recorders they record everything that goes on in the court room and then they use the steno machine to transcribe it and then they use the computer to change it from the shorthand in to english.

Hope this helps
